Workspace Requirements

• Clean, dust-free indoor space — garage with doors closed is ideal. Wind = enemy #1.
• Ambient temperature 60-85°F (15-30°C) — too cold = film gets brittle; too hot = adhesive activates too fast.
• Good lighting — LED work lights help spot bubbles and imperfections.
• Vehicle must be cool to the touch — never wrap a car that has been parked in direct sun.

2. Preparation: The Make-or-Break Step

This is where 90% of installation success or failure is determined. Rush this step and you'll regret it.

Step-by-Step Surface Prep

1. Rinse the vehicle thoroughly to remove loose dirt and debris. Don't skip this — even tiny particles under the film will look like tumors once applied.
2. Wash with automotive shampoo using a microfiber mitt. Two-bucket method recommended.
3. Clay bar treatment — run a detailing clay bar over every panel you plan to wrap. It removes embedded contaminants invisible to the naked eye.
4. Final wipe-down with IPA solution — mix 70%+ isopropyl alcohol with water (roughly 50/50). Wipe every inch with a fresh microfiber cloth. Change cloth frequently.
5. Remove trim pieces that could interfere — door handles, side mirror caps, emblems (if wrapping behind them), taillight trim.
6. Mask off areas NOT being wrapped — rubber seals, textured plastic, unpainted surfaces use quality painter's tape.

⚡ Pro Tip: After IPA wipe-down, shine a bright LED light across each panel at a shallow angle. Any remaining oil/fingerprints will show up as streaks. Re-wipe as needed until panels are perfectly clean.

3. Application Technique — Panel by Panel

The Golden Rules of Wrapping

• 🎯 Work one panel at a time — never try to wrap half the car at once
• 🌡️ Heat is your best friend AND worst enemy — use it strategically, not everywhere
• ✋ Clean hands or wear nitrile gloves — fingerprints under film are permanent
• 📐 Always leave 2-3 inches of overhang when cutting your initial piece
• 🔄 If it looks wrong, peel and reapply — don't try to fix bad placement by stretching

Flat Panels (Hood, Roof, Trunk)

1. Cut a piece roughly 6" larger than the panel on all sides
2. Peel back the backing paper 2-3 inches from one edge
3. Spray the adhesive side lightly with slip solution
4. Position the exposed adhesive edge along the panel edge you want as your starting point
5. Slowly peel more backing while squeegeeing from center outward in a H-pattern: middle first, then sweep left and right
6. Use the squeegee at a 45° angle, firm but not aggressive pressure
7. Bubbles? Lift slightly and re-squeegee toward the bubble to push it out
8. Once fully adhered and bubble-free, trim excess with your knife (45° angle against the edge)
9. Go around all edges with the heat gun on medium setting to shrink-wrap the film tightly

Complex Curves (Bumpers, Fenders)

This is where Air Release Technology really shines:

1. Apply extra slip solution — you need more repositioning room on curves
2. Start from the flattest area of the curved panel and work into the curve
3. Don't pull/stretch the film flat — instead, heat the film gently while conforming it to the shape
4. For deep concave areas (wheel arches), apply gentle heat (< 150°F) while pressing the film into the recess
5. The micro-channels in our adhesive will allow trapped air to escape over 24-48 hours
6. Small remaining bubbles after 48 hours? Poke with a needle tip and squeegee flat

4. Troubleshooting Common Issues

Problem	Cause	Fix
Fingerprints visible under film	Touched adhesive side with bare hands	Unfortunately permanent on that spot. Prevent next time with gloves.
Lifting edges after 24 hours	Contamination on edge OR insufficient heat shrinking	Clean edge, re-apply primer if available, reheat and press firmly for 60 seconds.
Orange peel texture	Film stretched too much without enough heat	Reheat the area thoroughly and squeegee firmly. May improve but won't be perfect.
Dirt/debris trapped under film	Inadequate surface prep	Cannot fix. Must peel and re-prep that section. Emphasizes importance of Step 2!
Film tearing during application	Over-stretching or cold conditions	Warm the area before stretching. Work in smaller sections. Overlap tears with patch from scrap.

5. Aftercare & Maintenance

The First 48 Hours

• Keep the vehicle dry — no rain, no washing for minimum 48 hours
• Avoid extreme temperatures (garage parking ideal)
• Do not wax or apply any coating during this period
• Small bubbles you couldn't remove will often self-heal via the air release channels within 48 hours

Long-Term Care (5-7 Year Lifespan)

• Hand wash only with pH-neutral automotive soap and microfiber mitt
• Never take through automatic brush car washes — touchless OK, brushes will lift edges
• No wax or polish on wrapped surfaces (the clear coat is already protected)
• Avoid high-pressure washers directly at seams/edges
• Bird droppings, sap, bug splatter — clean ASAP (within hours) with diluted IPA
• Petrol station fuel spills — rinse immediately, fuel damages the clear coat
